The Guatemala Travel Affidavit En Bref

No. The Guatemala Travel Affidavit (Declaración Jurada Regional de Viajero aka Electronic Regional traveler affidavit, or simplyDJRV)  is a travel document, different from the regular visa. It is mandatory for every traveler to the Republic of Guatemala despite their nationality. This travel permit contains visitors’  basic personal information as well as their travel and accommodation details.

Every traveler heading to Guatemala, no matter the reason (among which vacation, personal visit, business, education or science, marriage) is asked to present a Guatemala Travel Affidavit on their names. If you are a national of a country subject to a visa for entering Guatemala, you still need to obtain the Travel Affidavit along with your visa. If you are a national of a visa-exempt country, you too will have to obtain your Guatemala Travel Affidavit in order to travel.

Yes, even Guatemalan citizens have to apply by providing their passport numbers. If you are a citizen of the Republic of Guatemala and you are travelling between Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, you can apply with your ID Card (DPI) instead of your passport.

Once you have completed the application form and paid the service fee, your application is sent for verification and processing. If we spot any wrong or inconsistent information, we will contact you immediately by email asking you to provide the correct data. When the information from your application is accepted, you will receive an email from us with the approved Travel Affidavit for Guatemala – a file to keep on your mobile device and to present upon request. You can also make a hard copy of the file and keep it among your travel documents.
